Zavala Academics is a small in-person tutoring service in Ajax, Ontario. This page explains what we keep about you and your child, why we keep it, and how to get it removed. We've tried to write it in plain language rather than legal boilerplate.

What we collect

When you book a session, we store:

• Your name, email address and phone number.
• Your child's first name, grade level, and school if you tell us.
• The sessions you book — subject, date, time, location, price, and which tutor.
• After a session, the tutor's progress notes, and any rating you choose to leave.

We ask for your child's first name only. We don't ask for a last name, birthdate, address, or anything about their health, and you shouldn't send those to us.

Why we collect it

To arrange the tutoring: matching a tutor who covers the subject and grade, holding the time slot, telling the tutor who they're meeting, and taking payment. The progress notes exist so you can see what your child worked on. That's the whole list — we don't build profiles, and we don't use any of it for advertising.

Who can see it

• You — via the link you get when you book.
• Your tutor — only the families they're actually booked with, and only the first name, grade, subject and session details they need to show up prepared.
• The founder, who runs the schedule and handles payments.

Other families can't see your details, and neither can other tutors. We don't sell or share anything with third parties for their own purposes.

Where it's stored

Our records are held in a Supabase database (Supabase is a hosting provider that stores data on servers operated by Amazon Web Services). The website itself is hosted by Netlify. Depending on the region those providers use, your information may be stored outside Canada.

How long we keep it

We keep booking records while you're using us and for a reasonable period afterwards for our own accounts. If you ask us to delete your family's records, we'll do it, apart from anything we're required to retain for tax or accounting purposes.

Your choices

You can ask us at any time to show you what we hold, correct something that's wrong, or delete it. Just message us and we'll handle it — there's no form to fill in.

Children

Bookings are made by a parent or guardian, not by students. We ask you to confirm that when you book. If you believe a child has given us information without a parent's involvement, tell us and we'll remove it.

Changes

If this page changes in a way that matters, we'll update the date at the top.
